well ria its quite easy to understand how twitter works.
Thought Twitter is a social networking website its much different from other social websites like facebook and orkut. Its all about to express your thoughts towards your followings and world !!!
Spend more time on twitter you will get to know everything.

Its just like a website promotion, you should promote your twitter.
Follow your interests they will follow you.
Otherwise become a celebrity :p

More twitter followers + More Traffic to your links = More Money $$$
since Traffic+adsense=money
